Kat Loves Gerber

You’ve got to love Gerber. This long standing baby food brand was what I as a baby was eating when I was young and proud to say, also Kat’s favorites. Of course this brand had grown much from the time when I was a baby. Back then, the choice was only the small bottles of apple, pear and bananas. Now, you can choose from a whole variety of food. From the classic pureed fruit, to yogurt melts, whole meal food like pumpkin XXX, and I have got to mention every baby’s favorites, (otherwise known as “stars” or “mum mum” by kat).

I have to mention this little episode that happened to Kat recently which had gotten me to write this article. Kat was never a fussy eater since young and by the time she was weaning, I was a proud mummy that can tell everyone that Kat can finish her porridge in 15mins. No fuss. Our nightmare came 1 month ago when Kat had turned 14 months. She started to hate dinner>.< She would cry and whine when we fed her. I tried different types of porridge, cooking her pasta, making teddy shapes out of egg, you name it, and I’ve tried it. Kat would only take milk and went on 4-5 days without a proper meal.

You guessed it right, Gerber saved the day. It was more of like a last resort thing. So I dropped by the grocers and got a few bottles of the different full meals for her to try. Kat had rarely eaten bottled food and I was having my doubts on it as well. When the little spoon when into the whining mouth of the tantrum baby, she gave a weird look and ate half bottle of it! WOO HOO! Kat is still on bottled gerber for dinner. It has been 2 weeks since she started. Thou I am not really sure how long this will last, I am keeping my fingered crossed and also thankful that I had Gerber to save the day.

Successful little drumsticks

In contrary to Mummy Kat’s lack of motivation last weekend. Kat was busy impressing us with various things. Now that I am no longer stuck in the loo (I shall spare the details), I can finally share some excitement.

Daddy was experimenting with Kat and her play pen door and…

Our little bubble can now stand with assistance!!!!whoo hoo!!!! Her little drumstick thighs are standing!!!! Although she haven grasp the part where the only reason why she could stand was she was holding onto something. So the moment she started becoming proud and let go of her hand to be excited, gravity pulled her butt back to the floor. Well, we all know she’s gonna stand on her own soon so at the mean time, this little button can take her time to grow up.

Mummys Do Get Sick

Well…I am officially “Down” these 2 days. Apparently, I am writing after having just woke up from what felt like a coma + unlimited vomiting since yesterday morning. At least I feel human now (human= minus vomiting, add bad sore throat).

Anyways, this is actually the first major time I am down since Kat was born. As far as I try to be “Super Mum” all these while, I must admit that I am kinda defeated this time round. I had caught little kat’s little throat infection and it had amplify on Mommy huge time=.= However, the reason why I wanted to write this article was before Kat I was really sickly, easily catch a cold, cough, etc etc. But ever since being pregnant with Kat, this little glitches in my system seem to have take flight. AWESOME!

Well, the good and bad. Good= I haven been down sick for 7 months. Bad= Now that I am officially sick, I feel horrible.

Everyone I guess would like to know how Kat feels with Mummy sick. Well…nothing. She thinks Mummy is still Super Mum and was just crying to be carried by Mummy at 630am in the morning=.=|||…I guess it doesn’t make a difference to her then. Well I have my Super Mum as well and even now that I am married and have my own little girl, she is still asking if I want her to take leave to accompany me:) Love my Super Mum. I hope Kat loves me as much next time too…hehe

Brand Fanatic

ImageA Snap Shot of Daddy’s Grass Patch

Brand Fanatics we are indeed! Why do I say so? Simply look at the grass patch that Daddy Kat finally got last week end at Takashimaya Fair. (FYI. It is an on-going 3 week fair so Daddys and Mummys out there, you cant miss it out).

We always have this dream of what we and our girl would look like and use even before she was born. So as far as it is “practical”, “useful”, we try to get things that look good also. Not sure if that is what happens when you have 2 designers in the house. But we were chatting casually on our way to work today and we were trying to determine which one of us, Daddy or Mummy is an impulse buyer. Well I guess it is for everyone to judge. But it sure makes us happy looking at the happy colors of the things that Kat owns:)

As we buy more stuff, we grow to like certain brands and keep buying things from them, or colors that suit what we have. Lets cover the simple section of Lil Kat’s possession when it comes to eating:

Kat’s Dish Rack : LAWN from BOON (www.booninc.com/products/Lawn/377)

Kat’s Zut Zut Holder on Dish Rack: STEM from BOON (www.booninc.com/products/Stem/397)

Kat’s Self Feeding Spoon: BLENDERS from BOON (www.booninc.com/products/Benders/347)

and to end….we got our favorite high chair for Kat and it is coming tomorrow!!!!WOO HOO!!!! Kat’s Green OXO High Chair…….Mum’s favorite color..heehee

I don’t care! You must be there!

Part 2 of sleep when you can. I am not sure when, but Kat recently developed the “I don’t care! You must be there!” Attitude. As daddy Kat names it, “bullying mummy” attitude.

A fine example would be as I write this blog and lil Kat is taking her nap. Her butt is touching my belly to make sure I am there when she sleeps. Removing contact would simply set off an atomic bomb of cries.

Sleep when your kid sleeps

Even right to confinement, I have always find it ridiculous for people to tell me to sleep when my kids sleep. To all mamas out there taking care of your kid alone during the first 4 mths, it’s absolutely impossible.

However as lil Kat grows up, it’s getting more and more relevant. This is because deep down inside them, this little monster called “tantrum” is growing and if you don’t make sure you activate ur dose button the moment she sleeps, you can’t be sure if you can get it when u want to.

Example? Daddy Kat is the perfect example. He had always wanted to blog so he decided to take some time off to read about it before starting his very own blog site (www.daddyinstinct.wordpress.com) Well, Kat slept soundly at 9, so deciding to rest, I slept at around 10, after face-booking, eating seaweed (absolute fan of Tao gei noi) and window shopping online. Daddy Kat on the other hand decides that he will go on the self enriching path of researching the proper way to create a blog and went on till 4am -.-

Guess what?lil Kat woke up at 5am to drink milk. By 7am, she was totally up. Tada! So we went on the day going out with Kat till about 4++pm and Kat was sleeping soundly in the car. Then daddy Kat said….”please continue sleeping.” And when we took her out of her seat, Tada again….Kat was wide awake.

I could see daddy Kat had the most dreadful face on him. Well, he eventually went on to sleep while I try to get Kat to do the same. Thankfully, now Kat is taking her own nap as well so they are lying side by side , snoring away..

Lesson learnt= sleep when your kid sleeps. Applicable to all kids and tods that have a tantrum.

Poo-overloaded

There is always this on-going bicker in the family on the topic of how to wear a diaper correctly. So far, none of us have reached a conclusion on that. The reason why this topic came about was because Kat is super difficult when it comes to wearing diapers. She would straighten her legs to the max and it would be impossible for us to stick on the diaper. To add on to the challenge, Kat has poo that comes like a bomb each time…so much that whenever she poos, the image of the Hiroshima bombing comes to my mind. A recent scenario brought back some thoughts of so e classic poo moments, so I thought of sharing…

Scenario 1:(quite some time back)
We were enjoying lunch at vivocity. Kat was happily sitting on mummy’s lap when I suddenly felt like someone burped on my lap, followed by a warm fuzzy feeling. I knew it was poo and very efficiently, I told daddy Kat that I would change her diapers. Just when I carry her up, I could see daddy’s face change….I looked at the brown spots on my light blue shirt and brown pants, blinked, look at it again and stoned.
Of course I went to change her diapers after reality hit in and I knew I got to solve the situation. As ambitious we were, we continued shopping with my shirt and pants with wet spots after cleaning.
Scenario 2: (on the plane ride back)
This is definitely the most dramatic plane ride ever! We were excited to come home from Kuantan on the small propeller flight. The plane took awhile to take off and Kat started squirming around like a worm. Hoping that I dont annoy anyone,  I held on to Kat tight…

Within seconds… the sound of Kat using her strength to poo came…..”Ng…..Ng……” and her whole face was red. Before I knew it, “ploop” and lil Kat was smily and calm again…….then…..I felt the warm fuzzy feeling again and the first thing that come across my mind was…oh-no!

So while the plane started to take off, I lifted Kat off my lap and there it was….the golden brown poo that glisten under the afternoon sunlight. I swear to God I was lost for reaction. All I did was laugh sheepishly while I passed Kat to daddy. I tissued off the poo and daddy had to hold Kat standing so that her soiled pants and clothes do not smear onto anything or anyone else.
Lil Kat on the other hand was having the happiest time playing with the uncle at the back seat. Oblivious of what she had done. Finally of what seem like thousand of years, the plane was stable and the seat belt signs were off. Daddy and I brought the rascal to the toilet to do an emergency change out. But to add on to the drama, there was no change board!!!!!
I was thinking…gawd!save me…..but daddy and I suddenly got possessed with super powers and swiftly and efficiently, we changed the soiled dirty Kat while carrying her. As the flight from Kuantan to Singapore was pretty short, by the time we were done and put Kat to sleep, we were already reaching Singapore…….what an episode for a first plane ride.
Well….flying poo tops the charts of the interesting part about having a baby….Thank God for Pampers (yes the brand), if not I cannot imagine how many more interesting poo episodes we will have with lil Kat.
Love this lil rascal to bits:)

My big little button

It never occurred to me that time flies until lil Kat was born. How fast u might ask? I hardly ever noticed until today when I looked back at her photos that I realized that my hamster looking infant is now a boyish looking baby….if there is ever a most handsome little girl award, Kat wld probably be one of the finalist. So here is a look back on her little journey so far:)
