PDs or kids clinic in the east area

Lil Kat had a small glitch of fever yesterday and it reminded me of the many times that daddy Kat and I had to rush home to pick Kat up and while in the cab, frantically trying to look for a doctor that was open that day.

Funny it seems but Kat always manages to find times when all the pds are not opened to get sick. So I thought it would be nice to dedicate a post to all the pds near my area that I have tried or tried to search for. Just in case anyone reading needs a reference.

1) The Kids Clinic (tel: 6881 1711)

Opening hours : Mon & Wed 9am – 3pm, 7pm – 9pm; Tue, Thurs, Fri & Sat 9am – 3pm ; Sun &PH closed

Panic Directions by Mummy and Daddy Kat: Ground floor of Rivervale Mall, corner shop lot.

This has got to be one of the most crowded clinics I have ever been to. It is also where Kat had her first checkup. We had no clue which pd to go to so Dr Lilian was one of those that my Gynae had recommended us that was also near our home.

We like Dr Lilian a lot because of how meticulous she is to kat and of course the sentimental value as well. But on the flip side, her clinic is absolutely packed every day. It is almost impossible to call in to ask for an appointment.

We still always try to get her when things get a little out of hand as we find that for little kids, “doc hopping” is not such a good thing as it’s better to have your kids monitored by one person so that they know what is wrong with them easily.

There is also Dr Allyson in the same clinic that you can look for.

2) Pasir Ris Baby & Child Clinic (tel: 6581 0032)

Opening Hours Mon to Fri 845am – 1130am, 645pm – 830pm (except wed night); Sat 845am – 1130am; Sun & PH closed

Panic Directions by Mummy and Daddy Kat: 2nd Floor, up the escalator and turn right. Its beside another General Practioner.

We came across this one when Dr Lilian from Kid’s Clinic happen to be closed. Kat had gotten chicken pox and we were frantically trying to find a clinic. It was a long long wait that day but the good thing is, it is not because it is packed with appointments. You can always get a queue number if you go there before 8pm. Dr Sim was very clear in explaining how everything went and we were pretty thankful that Kat was ok with him tooJ We still go to him whenever Kat is sick.

The plus side would be that Dr Sim is pretty reasonably priced. So if you are looking for a PD, I will definitely recommend him.

3) Kinder Clinic at Parkway East (tel: 6446 7100) http://www.kinderclinic.com.sg/Kinder_Clinic/Home.html

We came here with Kat because both Dr Sim at Elias and Dr Lilian at Sengkang was not available. Kat caught hand foot mouth (HFMD) straight after chicken pox. Just when you thought it couldn’t have gotten worst. It was very very packed when we were here and Kat was the last one in queue. But well, when you are desperate, its better to have one option than to have none. So keep this in your list as well.

4) Thomson 24 Hour Family Clinic

Panic Directions by Mummy and Daddy Kat: Beside the souvenir shop, register there

If all PDs happen to be closed, we normally bring Kat back to Thomson. Even though they are not PDs and just General Practioners, daddy Kat and I seem to feel better bringing Kat back to somewhere where there are records of her birth.

Lastly, I would like to end this post to say that, getting sick is part and parcel of growing up. Having said that, as a mum of my little 1 year old, it is difficult to get a hang of the whole chaos when your kid gets sick. Nevertheless, don’t panic because your little one looks for you to depend on the most when they are sick. 🙂 cheers to all brave mummies + daddies out there!

Little Kat’s First Road Trip

We had our first family road trip the last public holidays to Malaysia to meet up with some friends, meet Daddy Kat’s family to celebrate Kat’s birthday & to take family portraits with our family photographer. WOW~~~were we busy…..>.< but all in all…it was a great trip:) This will be Kat’s 3rd trip overseas and i would suppose after writing this post, i would be qualified to share my checklist of things to bring on my ipad. According to Daddy Kat, I am the most “Kia Si” (Scared to die) mum, so if you follow my list, you will definitely not forget to bring anything, but have your luggage super heavy>.<

But anyways, here is our trip this time (4 day 3 night):

Day 1+2: The trip begin rather smoothly. We had breakfast at the airport where daddy, mummy got their coffee and lil kat got her favorite bun. Arrived at KL on time and living up to the name of being a “Kia Si” mum, we got car rental instead of relying on cabs and public transport. Best decision of my life! Thou we were lost for awhile looking for the avis counter, to have a car when you bring a kid on a trip is the best thing you can get. Then came the nightmare of a 6 hour drive to damai laut (was supposed to be 2hrs)!!!!!! -.- why did i choose Hari Raya holidays>.<

IMAG2756Kat + me in the car

Well, Kat was still quite happy as she nested in the car…if you see the picture>,< we couldnt get a car seat, coz it was all rented out (another hit on why did i choose to travel during raya). *A responsible parent must always think of your kid’s safety, so DONT TRAVEL WITHOUT A CAR SEAT. So we were driving slowly with caution the whole way to damai laut coz of the circumstance. Lil Kat on the other hand, was very happy about the road trip, she slept, and eat and slept and eat the whole 6 hours without complain!*amazed*(normally, she starts wanting to get out of the car in the first 15mins.

We finally reached after a torturous long drive (poor daddy kat), and met up with the Kat’s parents and cousins to celebrate her birthday! How is the hotel? There is only one and i must say that it is not so fantastic>.< The hotel was quite run down and many of the ammenities were not open. BUT! its the company that matters and Daddy, Mummy + Kat really enjoyed the time we spent with the family 🙂 *ps. Kat remembered Grandma:D (im so glad the skype chats paid off).

IMAG2804we just woke up!

Day 3+4: We bidded goodbye to the gramps and made our way down to KL to meet Aaron’s friends. To our surprise, Kat was ok with every single uncle:)! AWESOME! She enjoyed playing with them and i bet its vice versa…hahahah….. It was great that we got to meet our friends and have a chat after so long….

Another exciting thing that i have to mention about was we had our family portraits taken! We got our wedding photographer (which is simply awesome!) and got him to take a set of photos for us while we were there. While i was writing this post, he uploaded the first of the many photos he took of us:) comment? Just the kind of family portrait we wanted. The expression of our happiness and joy with kat!  If you guys are free, you have to drop by his facebook at https://www.facebook.com/alexmoiphotography or website http://www.alexmoi.net/blog/ to take a look at his beautiful works! You are sure to be swooned away!

Kat is 1!

Hi all,

Kat and family has had yet another wonderful adventure. FYI to those that didnt know, Kat is officially a year old! WOOHOO!!!! And this little princess had 3 celebrations, even thou our attempts to make it a small family event. Daddy Kat and I felt that it was not necessary to make it a big one as we were thinking, “might as well save it for when she can invite her little friends”. So I do hope she is looking forward to a big party in the near future. Meantime, we met up with both sides of the family and a additional one coz grandpa could not make it for the noon party:)

Here are some photo throwbacks of the party!

*ps. we also made a trip to KL and Damai Laut recently. Shall update the exciting pics in the next post!

I Love My Happy Bubble And I Know She Is Happy With Us Too

DUH…of course I love my girl. FYI, daddy Kat and I always have the same conversation every once in awhile, and that is, “am I bias or I think she is the cutest thing in the world?”, “I think she is the cutest thing in the world”, “yah, I think so too.”

So, she is!the Cutest, Happiest, Funniest little bubble that daddy Kat and I can ever dream of having. This is even more so after her whole saga of bad diaper rash, chicken pox and bronchitis. Seeing her smile again after getting better was so precious. Now that we look back, it is also through this that we know how much she needs us when she is sick. So much that Kat learnt bababa…. And mamama…. when she was sick.

As much as it was a heart breaking thing to have sick Kat coming after u for hugs and kisses. A little spark of happiness still lighted as daddy and me felt our immense importance. 🙂 nevertheless, we are overjoyed that happy and healthy Kat is back and bringing her out to play and explore is the most wonderful thing! So happy that we trio love each other and will continue to stick happily to each other for a long long time.

Happy Kat back having a happy off day with mummy and daddy!

Kat’s Trial and Error: teething rashes

And we thought it was food allergy. Kat started teething at a pretty young age, 5mths? 3 tooth then, and absolutely no issues. Her excessive saliva only came at around 6-7 months and the whole saga of teething rashes only begin maybe a month ago?

So what is teething rash? It is rashes formed around the mouth area. It is normally reddish spots and for Kat’s case, it looks a little like wounds on a bad day. We were not able to differentiate from whether it was a food allergic reaction or anything else. So of course when I, the Noob mummy Kat saw this for the first time, I told daddy Kat that we had to bring Kat to the doctors! She is a girl for Christ sake! And of course being responsible parents, when you do not know what is happening to the baby, bring your kid to the medical practitioner FIRST, evaluate what happen before you try anything funny. Why? Duh! They studied years of medical for a reason. If they cannot solve the problem, at least they can help you figure out what it is.  Well, the doctor confirmed that Kat was not allergic to any food that she had eaten the past couple of days, and prescribed a cream for her to use. PHEW!

Then we were asked by our doctor to check our with infant care to make sure that Kat’s mouth area was kept dry as far as we can, be it in infant care or at home. So spotting the issue, Daddy Kat and I went straight to the infant care after the docs to tell them the issue, having a little worry that they are not doing it right. But it seem that the joy when Kat sees her teachers, prove that she is the little apple of the teachers’ eye and she could not have been better taken care of.  (Trial and Error Pointer No. 1 = Always Clean With Water and Dap Dry Only)

Anyways, the whole lotion thing from the Docs didnt work and being as anxious about my darling, I moved on to household remedies. Lavender Essential Oil was what I tried on the wounds. Well, it kinda worked, Kat’s wounds dried up after a day of constant application and keeping dry but it went kind of extreme where her skin turned flaky. But nevertheless, I conclude that Lavender Essential Oil does work, but maybe not for Kat’s skin.

How did we solve the problem? After spending a whole night reading up online, I concluded that most mummies that have this issue, uses ….

imagesYes! Vaseline was the solution to Kat’s irritating teething rashes problem. For just $2, we solved the bugging issue that Kat has:)So happy that Noob Daddy & Mummy and our Little Kat has managed to conquer yet another little obstacle.:Dtada!

Kat’s Trial and Error

I was thinking that instead of only talking about our little happy story day in day out, which if you are still reading my blog, you must be enjoying it, I gotta make it more useful and helpful, from all the trial and errors that we have, growing up with Kat.

Daddy and Mummy Kat, are noob parents. High 5 if you are one too! Also, the thing about us is we are knuckle heads that don’t want to believe in old wives tales and non medical proven stuff as far as we are, bringing up little Kat. 8months have passed and I guess we have smooth out a little. I can’t say we are now super into natural stuff, we are a tiny winy more open to other things to act as supplements.

So I shall create a little section called “Kat’s trial and error” to record down how we as the Noob parents solve our little hiccups as Kat grows up. Of course that will entail some tracking back or days to Kat’s birth but as and when I am free.:)

Bali Bali Part 2

Well….this being the 2nd time Daddy and Mummy Kat is in Bali, we already know what we would like and not like to do. So instead of scrambling around like all typical Asian tourists do (no offence but we Asians just do not know how to relax), we were loitering around having high tea at hotel lobby, hanging at the beach with Little Kat, splashing water with Kat at the pool etc. Maybe its because we were not flocking everywhere, we truly felt refreshed after the trip, thou the chores of looking after a 8 months tot was still there.

There were some new discoveries with little Kat over this trip.

1) I love swimming and playing with water.

2) I love bread and munching on them.

Bali Bali part 1

Bali was awesome!!! Not the kinda singles awesome where you party all night long, but awesome as in super family awesome trip where everyone is happy….including Kat.

Kat was like little miss popular in Bali…staff from hotel, boutique staff, even tourist at airport keep flocking to her to touch her hands, say hi, and “ouch…she’s super cute”…and this little fella was loving all the attention, smiling to everyone she meets along the way. We could have just left her in Bali and I think she could survive there pretty well….hahaha….proud mama moment:D

Let’s start from the airport. As usual Changi airport was awesome. With a kid, we always have to be at the airport early, so we had breakfast, shopped around play with little Kat, change her diapers, feed her…etc…We were hoping Kat could have slept more thou. But I think she knew she was going on holidays so when we were up at 5am, she was up too, and refused to sleep until 1 hr into the plane ride…

20140317-222515.jpg

20140317-222505.jpg

We stayed at Westin this time round. Reason being, it is reviewed to have the best kids facilities in Bali, and a little bit for everyone. It was great!!!

We got a very nice Balinese welcome dance when we arrived. Our fascinated and happy Kat got her little frangipani at her ear and a kids club welcome pack! Inside was a night light, kid safe plug stopper and the most important, A RUBBER DUCK that Kat simply refuse to let go of.:)

20140317-224111.jpg

20140317-222736.jpg

20140317-222751.jpg

There were little chairs at the lobby for little kids, coloring paper for older tots, and a kids club. Since Kat was still young, there was an indoor playground for her. For older kids, there is also a bigger playground, activities, tv room, kids spa, kid salon. It’s simply awesome!

Our room. A family suite with a great big bed for the adults, a nice cot for Kat, kids bean bag, kids table and kids stool at the living room too!!!

So we definitely started the holiday on the right foot….more of Bali coming up!

My Hubby Is The Best In The World

While hubs is doing the dishes….let me write something about our marriage so far…considering that today marks the start of the 3rd year of our marriage.

Is he what I dream about when I was young?nope.hahahah…to be very honest, I never thought I was able to marry myself off since young so when I met, dated and marry him….in my heart, I was thinking like woah!i managed to get someone to marry me….lol

He was then me supervisor at internship when I got to know him and it was only when we dated that we realize that we are so much alike.:) other than the part where he just hated that I always want to manage my own things, which he also feel is not very lady like of me. But he is definitely my best friend, someone I can share everything with, someone that understands even though he doesn’t want to show sometimes:)

A year into our marriage, we had little Kat. She’s the cutest, most adorable little button. The exact replica of Aaron, even the annoying bits. Aaron is wonder daddy to this little girl. Never failing to make her laugh, never complaining to clean her dirty diaper and always ready to carry this little girl as she drifts off to dreamland. He is the hubby that makes motherhood seem easy cause the husband is always there to help.

People always mention that ur kid is the best thing that happen to their lives. For me, daddy Kat is the best thing that happen to my life, Kat is like a bonus feature.hahhaha….Happy 2 years anniversary my love.
