Mum’s are forced to look formidable

My mother in my eye has always been a super woman. Up till the day I was down in the hospital waiting for my turn for an injection a couple of years back, she was the one I confined in for my worries. So I guess it is undeniable that almost everyone thinks their mum are the most brave person in the world, probably even surpassing dad.

This we what I thought until the day I had Kat. On a whole, I would summarize myself as someone who is afraid of a lot of things, from horror movies all the way till an injection. But for Kat, I had went through 3 horrible engorgements, a cesarean, countless trips to the doctors and many other things. This little girl sticks to me whenever she gets into trouble. Well, this Friday is her 1 year old injection, and I am bringing her to the docs all by myself. Am I afraid?yes! But as a mum, I realize it’s more about telling yourself that you have to do it and your kiddo depends on you for comfort that makes you NEED to be strong or at least “act” strong.

So are mums formidable?nope, we are not and up to this point , I am thinking how many umpteen times I had forced my mum to be or look strong when I was young? But my little conclusion would be that mummies and daddies will always try our very best to be a dependable shoulder for our children. And for daddy Kat and I, we always try to make it a point to be there whenever Kat needs us.

So fingers crossed for this Friday!

The Kat Anxiety

Yup. It finally came. We thought was just a passing cloud and that Kat had successfully jumped pass that and move on to the little girl that loves to go to school stage…nope….

It came like a slap in the face that very day we sent her to school after our HK trip. All 3 sleepy heads dragged ourselves to school that day. Normally we would go through the routine “bye byes” n “kiss kiss” but what came after that was a pout and sobs started coming….

Daddy n my reaction was “omg!”what is happening!…so yea…it woke us up that day alright. And the better part it, she was so consistent at it that for the next few days, she made sure she had a melt down every time we drop her at sch…..-.-“”

So fingers crossed and hope she gets over it soon….

And there we go again…

Yup…we are flying again. This time round for a more solemn event. Nevertheless, traveling is still quite a big thing when you have a one year old. We finally got Kat on SQ this time round. I must say she is rather cooperative every single time we travel.

Thankfully for the bassinet (FYI, though the numerous times Kat has been on the plane, it’s her first bassinet), daddy and I manage to take a break and go about our business when cooperative Kat fell asleep. Kat must be rather big for her age as she is now 14 mths but already slightly too long for the bassinet and 3 kg short from not being able to withstand the weight.

So while she is dozing off her noon nap, I am taking this little chance to sign off for a couple of days back to Hong Kong and daddy is reading his book on iPad 🙂 still glad for the closure we are getting after this while. Not the happiest but thankful it’s coming.

Mummy’s survival kit

at work and I will feel terribly depressed in the office. Well, I guess all working mummies face the same issue, esp when Kat was running a random fever this week.

So, to conquer this terrible feeling, I have secretly came up with my “Mummy Kat Survival Kit” to drag me through the miserable miss kat kat times. Thought it would be a nice little thing to share with fellow mummies out there. Perhaps you guys have even better deals.

Kat Kat photo frame
Definitely must have. Well, mine is Kat and Daddy. 🙂 I always feel better when I get to take a glimpse at it while in the mist of my busy work load.

Handphone filled with Kat’s photos
Well, the photo on the table gets kinda boring after awhile so its nice to look at come newer ones.

Alarm Clock
Even if you can never go home on time, it doesn’t hurt to actually have an alarm clock to remind you that you have a baby waiting for you and that you are married to a person, not you job.

Coffee
Yea…yea…I know that this post is about missing kat. But I have to mention that to juggle a sick kat & a management role is totally killing me. I think I might have died if not for the strong support from the caffine friend (of course daddy kat too) >.<

Well, so I guess it’s a salute to all working mummies out there. Ciao bananas!

Kat and her funny self

Home is getting livelier as Kat is now 13 months! The time when your little fella learns v quickly, normally of all the things you wished she did not learn. The time when u wished u had talked more sense and less rubbish. The weird part is, kids alway learn all the rubbish. So let’s cover a little of Kat’s new vocab:

Wow:

one of the first words she learnt. Not a bad word but she has learnt her way to effectively express herself. Eg. She would say wow when I open the fridge.*daddy Kat and I can’t help but to laugh every time she does this.

Oh-oh:

I think daddy Kat has the credit for this word. So now whenever she drops something or purposely throws something away, it is always accompanied by oh-oh

Baobao (carry):

This is best signalled with her hands opened wide, wanting to be carried

Baobao(bread):

1st Baobao in the morning is carry. If she says it again, Baobao would then mean she wants bread

Animal series (say the animal and Kat replies with the sound)

Dog: ouh-ouh

Cow: mmmmm

Lion: rah

Tiger: rah

Rabbit: *pretends to jump*

Fish: bubble

Cat: *giggle*(no longer sure if calling her Kat is a good idea. Now she must think, “why would mummy think that I make the miaow sound “)

Anyways we have also moved on to teach Kat about fruits. It seems to Kat that fruits have a great importance and should have their individual names.

Kat’s identified fruit friends:

1)Nana the banana

2)Ah bu the apple

So yup:)having this little girl start to talk is such a fun activity to have at home…..:)

Daddy Kat is now overseas. Guess who is missing daddy already? Well technically both of us…haha. But the moment Kat woke up in her cot this morning, she was already looking over the other side of my bed for daddy and gave a weird look when she couldn’t find him. She pouted when I dropped her off at school. Poor little fella, must be missing daddy already…. 4 more days to go…hang on Kat!

As for me, I dread days when I have to travel or when daddy Kat travels. It seems that being married for 2 years and stayed together for almost 4 years has made me develop a horrible habit of feeling extremely uncomfortable when daddy Kat is not around. But thankfully now there is little Kat, way better but still, 4more days to go! We miss u daddy Kat!

My Dearest Grandpa

As far as this is a blog about Kat and daddy mummy Kat, I am dedicating this post to my grandpa that I just lost this morning, 5 August 2014, 3.03am. I expected myself to be bawling my eyes out the moment I hear this news but it seems that I am awfully calm from what I expect. Went on to work as usual, was busy like mad, only times like lunch, on the way to work that I could feel the pulsing sore-ness at my heart from the heartbreak. Maybe it’s the busi-ness at work that is keeping the sadness away, or maybe it’s the fact that I am trying to not think too much.

My grandpa is definitely my favorite grand parent of all. Why? Because he is the one that I had deep memories of him sending me to school during nursery, protecting me from the beggars by the street that I was so afraid of, carry me up the slope and stairs when the little me was too lazy, go cycling with me when he visited Singapore, play the arcade with me when I was growing up, listen to my little stories, etc. Almost all my childhood memories had him.

My decision to go back to Hong Kong for university was also partly because I wanted to spend more time with my grand folks. I am very thankful to have gotten the chance to spend some simple dinner time with him and grandma once every few weeks, get him a birthday cake during his birthday, buy chocolates that he love, introducing him to the love of my life and telling him I was pregnant during my final visit when I was 6mths pregnant with Kat.

The only thing that I did not manage to was to let him meet my little Kat. Now that he has returned to be with the LORD, I hope he is looking at how beautiful a great granddaughter she is and how awfully I miss him already. I am not sure if the last album I made him, he manage to see her photos or grasp the idea of little Kat’s presence, or the little quirky thing I found in Kat. But this is what I said to him. I told him that looking at my father fetching Kat from school and playing with her reminded me of how blessed and happy I was to spend my childhood with him and I was very thankful and glad that Kat was receiving the same happiness and joy with my Dad.

To my Grandpa in heaven by my LORD:

Thank you for being such a happy and important part of my growing up. I am glad to have you as my company and blessed that GOD sent you to be my guardian. Thankful that GOD shortened your suffering and gave you peace. Lastly, I love you grandpa and I will miss you dearly. Till we meet each other in heaven again, it’s goodbye for now.

Little Kat’s First Road Trip

We had our first family road trip the last public holidays to Malaysia to meet up with some friends, meet Daddy Kat’s family to celebrate Kat’s birthday & to take family portraits with our family photographer. WOW~~~were we busy…..>.< but all in all…it was a great trip:) This will be Kat’s 3rd trip overseas and i would suppose after writing this post, i would be qualified to share my checklist of things to bring on my ipad. According to Daddy Kat, I am the most “Kia Si” (Scared to die) mum, so if you follow my list, you will definitely not forget to bring anything, but have your luggage super heavy>.<

But anyways, here is our trip this time (4 day 3 night):

Day 1+2: The trip begin rather smoothly. We had breakfast at the airport where daddy, mummy got their coffee and lil kat got her favorite bun. Arrived at KL on time and living up to the name of being a “Kia Si” mum, we got car rental instead of relying on cabs and public transport. Best decision of my life! Thou we were lost for awhile looking for the avis counter, to have a car when you bring a kid on a trip is the best thing you can get. Then came the nightmare of a 6 hour drive to damai laut (was supposed to be 2hrs)!!!!!! -.- why did i choose Hari Raya holidays>.<

IMAG2756Kat + me in the car

Well, Kat was still quite happy as she nested in the car…if you see the picture>,< we couldnt get a car seat, coz it was all rented out (another hit on why did i choose to travel during raya). *A responsible parent must always think of your kid’s safety, so DONT TRAVEL WITHOUT A CAR SEAT. So we were driving slowly with caution the whole way to damai laut coz of the circumstance. Lil Kat on the other hand, was very happy about the road trip, she slept, and eat and slept and eat the whole 6 hours without complain!*amazed*(normally, she starts wanting to get out of the car in the first 15mins.

We finally reached after a torturous long drive (poor daddy kat), and met up with the Kat’s parents and cousins to celebrate her birthday! How is the hotel? There is only one and i must say that it is not so fantastic>.< The hotel was quite run down and many of the ammenities were not open. BUT! its the company that matters and Daddy, Mummy + Kat really enjoyed the time we spent with the family 🙂 *ps. Kat remembered Grandma:D (im so glad the skype chats paid off).

IMAG2804we just woke up!

Day 3+4: We bidded goodbye to the gramps and made our way down to KL to meet Aaron’s friends. To our surprise, Kat was ok with every single uncle:)! AWESOME! She enjoyed playing with them and i bet its vice versa…hahahah….. It was great that we got to meet our friends and have a chat after so long….

Another exciting thing that i have to mention about was we had our family portraits taken! We got our wedding photographer (which is simply awesome!) and got him to take a set of photos for us while we were there. While i was writing this post, he uploaded the first of the many photos he took of us:) comment? Just the kind of family portrait we wanted. The expression of our happiness and joy with kat!  If you guys are free, you have to drop by his facebook at https://www.facebook.com/alexmoiphotography or website http://www.alexmoi.net/blog/ to take a look at his beautiful works! You are sure to be swooned away!

Kat is 1!

Hi all,

Kat and family has had yet another wonderful adventure. FYI to those that didnt know, Kat is officially a year old! WOOHOO!!!! And this little princess had 3 celebrations, even thou our attempts to make it a small family event. Daddy Kat and I felt that it was not necessary to make it a big one as we were thinking, “might as well save it for when she can invite her little friends”. So I do hope she is looking forward to a big party in the near future. Meantime, we met up with both sides of the family and a additional one coz grandpa could not make it for the noon party:)

Here are some photo throwbacks of the party!

*ps. we also made a trip to KL and Damai Laut recently. Shall update the exciting pics in the next post!

My little lost blog

Time to revive this blog. Life has been pretty crazy for me these few months. I was in the mist of changing my job and now that things are settling down for me, daddy Kat and Kat, it’s time to blog again.

A year ago during this time I was heavily pregnant, waiting for the arrival of my little one. Now? I am a proud mummy of my lil Kat. She is definitely the most amazing thing that daddy and I cherish very much, the reflection of our love for each other. Writing a blog beside her while she is sleeping is always such a bliss.

I am so ever glad that God has his plan for us with Kat. And I am so blessed and honored to have the opportunity to be her mum. If you are one of those anticipating a photo of her…..

She is now a smart little fella that knows baobao=bread, baba=daddy, mama=mummy, porpor=grandma cow says moo and dog says ouh ouh.;)

Just love her to bits. Watch out for her coming birthday issue!
