Kat’s Trial and Error: teething rashes

And we thought it was food allergy. Kat started teething at a pretty young age, 5mths? 3 tooth then, and absolutely no issues. Her excessive saliva only came at around 6-7 months and the whole saga of teething rashes only begin maybe a month ago?

So what is teething rash? It is rashes formed around the mouth area. It is normally reddish spots and for Kat’s case, it looks a little like wounds on a bad day. We were not able to differentiate from whether it was a food allergic reaction or anything else. So of course when I, the Noob mummy Kat saw this for the first time, I told daddy Kat that we had to bring Kat to the doctors! She is a girl for Christ sake! And of course being responsible parents, when you do not know what is happening to the baby, bring your kid to the medical practitioner FIRST, evaluate what happen before you try anything funny. Why? Duh! They studied years of medical for a reason. If they cannot solve the problem, at least they can help you figure out what it is.  Well, the doctor confirmed that Kat was not allergic to any food that she had eaten the past couple of days, and prescribed a cream for her to use. PHEW!

Then we were asked by our doctor to check our with infant care to make sure that Kat’s mouth area was kept dry as far as we can, be it in infant care or at home. So spotting the issue, Daddy Kat and I went straight to the infant care after the docs to tell them the issue, having a little worry that they are not doing it right. But it seem that the joy when Kat sees her teachers, prove that she is the little apple of the teachers’ eye and she could not have been better taken care of.  (Trial and Error Pointer No. 1 = Always Clean With Water and Dap Dry Only)

Anyways, the whole lotion thing from the Docs didnt work and being as anxious about my darling, I moved on to household remedies. Lavender Essential Oil was what I tried on the wounds. Well, it kinda worked, Kat’s wounds dried up after a day of constant application and keeping dry but it went kind of extreme where her skin turned flaky. But nevertheless, I conclude that Lavender Essential Oil does work, but maybe not for Kat’s skin.

How did we solve the problem? After spending a whole night reading up online, I concluded that most mummies that have this issue, uses ….

imagesYes! Vaseline was the solution to Kat’s irritating teething rashes problem. For just $2, we solved the bugging issue that Kat has:)So happy that Noob Daddy & Mummy and our Little Kat has managed to conquer yet another little obstacle.:Dtada!
